Everyone agrees that in today’s health care environment physician engagement is critical to the success of collaborative care models as well as the successful retention of physicians. But how does a health care leader define, identify, and quantify physician engagement?
What is physician engagement?
“There is a lot of talk about physician engagement, but no one knows exactly what it is,” admits Lori Brostrom, vice president of marketing for Physician Wellness Services (PWS).
To help quantify what physician engagement might look like, PWS and Cejka Search conducted a survey to identify the attributes of engagement for a national group of physicians. “We wanted to see what elements were most important to physicians and how well they felt these elements were true in their current organizational relationships,” she says.
