‘Things We Can Treat’: Northwell Health Champions Gun Safety with a Powerful New Campaign

Gun violence is still the leading cause of death among children and adolescents in the United States. It’s a devastating statistic that Northwell Health refuses to accept as the status quo.

“No parent wants to see a child hurt by gun violence. It’s that simple,” says Ramon Soto, senior vice president and chief marketing and communications officer at Northwell Health. “It takes a collective effort to move the needle. Health systems, parents, businesses, community groups, schools, lawmakers, and others all have a responsibility to educate people and prevent violence against our children.”

Following years of advocacy, public education, and coalition-building, Northwell has now taken its next bold step to drive home a simple but urgent message: “Children have enough reasons to visit the hospital, and gun violence should not be one of them.”

In July, Northwell, in partnership with creative agency StrawberryFrog, launched a poignant new multimedia campaign titled “Things We Can Treat.” The campaign recently debuted across the greater New York Metro area and features a multichannel approach combining traditional and digital marketing.
