Health care leadership extends beyond the walls of the hospital into the halls of government for Nick Ragone. “Creating an open dialogue among legislators, state agencies, and health care organizations gives all of us a different perspective,” he says. Ragone was recently appointed to the Missouri State Board of Health and Senior Services.
Health care organizations play an important role in their communities that goes beyond providing health care services within the four walls of a hospital, clinic, or urgent care center. Outreach and community-based programs target specific populations to improve health and quality of life with a goal of keeping people out of the hospital.
At Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic health care system, involvement in the community also means encouraging individual physicians and staff members to share their talents and knowledge with other entities focused on community issues.
Nick Ragone, Esq., executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Ascension, is only one example of the system’s support of community involvement at all levels. Ragone was recently appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Missouri Senate to serve on the State Board of Health and Senior Services.
“I am excited to represent the health care community and to have input into public policy related to health services for our state,” says Ragone. “My focus will be curbing opioid addiction, reducing maternal mortality, providing care that enables people to heal in their home, and greater investment in behavioral and mental health, which are key interests for me personally and for both Ascension and the State of Missouri.”
