Broward Health’s social media manager strives to create short-form video content that feels human — and it doesn’t take a 10-person film crew.

She commented then that you have three seconds to get and hold people’s attention. When we caught up with her a couple of weeks ago, she said now it may be even less.

We know from our own experience that we decide almost instantly to keep swiping or stop and watch the reels and shorts on our social media platform of choice.

So, how does a social media expert grab attention?

It’s all about authenticity, according to Rivera. “I think it’s really important for social to measure connection, not perfection,” she says. “We’re always trying to make everything look super polished, super perfect, and I think that social media is a perfect platform not to be so perfect — and it’s actually appreciated when you look more authentic.”
