Community Health Systems Launches Selfie Campaign to Empower Women’s Health

Snap, filter, post, repeat. It’s no secret that selfies are the reigning queens of social media. From brunches with friends to sunsets on the beach, the selfie has become a daily ritual, especially for women capturing life’s moments with flair. But what if selfies could do more than just rack up likes? What if they could be a reminder to take care of you?

That’s the idea behind the Keep Your Selfie Healthy: A Women’s Health Week Challenge.

“Studies show that half of women forego preventative health appointments due to time constraints, cost, difficulty booking an appointment, distance to a provider, and a history of health care disparities,” says Melissa Tyndall, content development manager at Community Health Systems (CHS).

“Considering that history and many of our Live Healthy newsletter subscribers are women 50 and older, we wanted to develop a special campaign to spread awareness about health issues that are more common among older women and conditions that present differently in women than in men. We also aimed to improve brand awareness, reputation, and confidence in our markets. Ultimately, in doing so, we hoped women in our communities would be more proactive about their health,” she says.
